Fiber Made From Rock, Flown to the Moon! Basalt Fiber Gains Popularity Globally

Would you believe it? The five-star flag unfurled on the far side of the Moon was woven from fiber made of rock! This material is basalt fiber, known as the green high-performance new material of the 21st century.

Ordinary basalt rock is melted at 1500°C and drawn into ultra-fine filaments. It can withstand high temperatures and seawater corrosion, with outstanding tensile strength. Compared with carbon fiber, it is much more cost-effective and outperforms conventional glass fiber.

It is widely used in bridge reinforcement, marine engineering, friction materials, photovoltaic supports, and fire protection. We supply basalt untwisted roving, twisted roving and BFRP rebars.

Overseas orders keep rising. Many composite manufacturers are switching from glass fiber to basalt fiber. If you work in the composite industry, you must learn about this advanced new material!
